Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 9, 2026

LudeWeather (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have, so you can use LudeWeather with a clear picture of how your data is handled. LudeWeather is operated by LudeHQ ([email protected]).

1. Information we collect

Location data. If you grant permission, we read your device coordinates to fetch local weather. The coordinates pass through our server to our weather providers, OpenWeather and Open-Meteo, and are never stored on our servers.

IP based location. On your first visit, or when device location is unavailable or denied, your IP address is sent to a third party service, ipapi.co, to estimate your city level location so we can show nearby weather. Your IP address is not stored by us.

Data stored on your device. The following stay in your browser local storage and are never sent to our servers: your unit preference, the last city you viewed, your recent searches, and your saved locations.

Usage data. We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to collect aggregated, cookieless page view and performance data, such as page views and broad geographic region. We do not use invasive tracking or third party advertising trackers.

2. Cookies

LudeWeather does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We use browser local storage only to remember your unit preference (°C or °F), the last city you viewed, your recent searches, and your saved locations, all on your own device.

3. Third party services

Weather data is provided by OpenWeather and Open-Meteo. When you use LudeWeather, your search queries (a city name or coordinates) are sent through our server to those providers. Please review the OpenWeather Privacy Policy for how they handle data. For first visit and fallback location, your IP address is sent to ipapi.co; please review their privacy policy as well. LudeWeather is hosted on Vercel, whose server logs include IP addresses as part of standard request handling.

4. Data retention

We do not retain personal data on our servers. Any local data in your browser (unit preference, last viewed city, recent searches, and saved locations) can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser site data.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Erasure, the right to be forgotten
  • Restrict processing
  • Data portability
  • Object to processing

Because we collect minimal data and store nothing personally identifiable on our servers, these rights are mostly exercised through your own browser settings.

6. Children's privacy

LudeWeather is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new date. Continued use of LudeWeather after a change means you accept the updated policy.

8. Contact

For questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected]. We aim to respond to privacy inquiries within 30 days.
