Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

1. Introduction

LudeWeather (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it. By using LudeWeather, you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Location Data: If you grant permission, we access your device's GPS coordinates to fetch local weather. This data is transmitted directly to OpenWeatherMap's API and is never stored on our servers.

Search History: The last city you searched for is stored in your browser's localStorage. This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Usage Data: We may collect anonymised, aggregated analytics (page views, general geographic region) through standard web server logs. We do not use invasive tracking technologies or third-party advertising trackers.

3. Cookies

LudeWeather does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We use browser localStorage solely for storing your unit preference (°C/°F) and last searched city on your device.

4. Third-Party Services

Weather data is provided by OpenWeatherMap. When you use LudeWeather, your search queries (city name or coordinates) are sent to OpenWeatherMap's API servers. Please review OpenWeatherMap's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.

5. Data Retention

We do not retain personal data on our servers. Any local data stored in your browser (city name, unit preference) can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right to access any personal data we hold about you
  • Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Right to restrict processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing

Since we collect minimal data and store nothing personally identifiable on our servers, these rights are primarily exercised through your own browser settings.

7. Children's Privacy

LudeWeather is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of LudeWeather after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us. We aim to respond to all privacy inquiries within 30 days.
